Sx310 is a high-alloy austenitic stainless steel intended for high-temperature applications. The high chromium and nickel content gives the steel excellent oxidation resistance and high strength at high temperatures. The grade is also very malleable and has good weldability, making it widely used in many applications.
SX 310S is a low-carbon version of the SX 310 for applications where sensitization, high-temperature gas corrosion, or condensate corrosion may occur during shut-in.
Typical applications: high-temperature environments requiring scale and corrosion resistance, as well as high-temperature strength and good creep resistance widely use SX 310/310s.
